Westworld Season 2 Review: 10 Spoiler-Free Reactions To The First Five Episodes
8. It Feels Even More Like Game Of Thrones
Season 1 garnered a lot of comparisons to Game of Thrones, which were earned more through its production values and HBO's hope for it being the next big thing rather than narrative or thematic similarities.
Those comparisons feel even stronger this time around, and seep more into the plotting and character work of the series too. With the hosts now given their own agency, there's much more room to explore the moral grey areas within the various characters, with those we root for doing some terrible things and no one really being wholly good or bad.
The season's structure feels Thrones-esque too, especially in the first couple of episodes (the premiere is a lot like a typical season premiere of GoT) where it hops between the various storylines to get everyone back up to speed and set the table for the rest of the run, and pairs up different characters in surprising fashion.
