You Season 3: 12 Questions That Must Be Answered
11. Is Love Still Mourning Forty?
A standout character in the second season was Love's twin brother Forty. From early episodes when Joe still thought Love was someone he could manipulate, Forty presented himself as a continuous barrier for both Joe and Love.
The co-dependent relationship ran deeper than we imagined, and Love's unwavering devotion to her brother was exposed close to the end. Until the moment he died, Forty was acting in the name of his sister. With a gun to Joe's head, we imagined Love to have to decide between her brother and her lover.
It is why it's strange that in the closing moments of season two, Love appears content. The twin she devoted her life to protecting had died, and we'd be naive to assume she doesn't hold Joe (or even Ellie) responsible.
If Love is still mourning her brother, it could pave the way to present Love in a more antagonistic role. Especially if her relationship with Joe is fractured, regardless if they have made up.
However, if she is over the death of a man she spent her entire life protecting, it might be more worrying as this cold-blooded woman will be raising a child with Joe Goldberg.
