M'Gann's mission allowed the writers to properly reintroduce us to the younger characters on the show who, like Miss Martian herself, had been sorely overlooked in the season's opening episodes. The likes of Wonder Girl, Blue Beetle, Static Shock and Bart Allen were all introduced during the show's second season (due to the time-jump that took pace between it and Season 1) and, although it was a jarring change at first, it didn't take us long to fall in love with their youthful charm, much like we did with their predecessors in Season 1. Thankfully, 'Away Mission' righted one of the few wrongs from the premiere as it finally provided these characters with some much-needed spotlight.

Unable to recruit Superboy, M'Gann turned to her team for backup and, as a result, all of them accompanied her to New Genesis, ultimately proving their worth as they helped her diffuse the situation.

While the original Young Justice line-up will always be at the heart of the show (and rightly so), it's important to recognise these young recruits as well. The likes of Dick, M'Gann, Kaldur, Artemis and Conner have all matured into worthy leaders and thus, the show needs to rely on the less-experienced heroes to provide viewers with that youthful enthusiasm.

Moreover, these young heroes were a major part of Season 2's charm and they all had pivotal roles in helping their more-experienced members overcome The Reach. Now, it finally looks like they may have equally as important roles this season too.
