10 Best UFC Fighters Of The Last Decade
6. Demetrious Johnson
Despite having some exciting fighters and wonderful battles, the UFC's flyweight division never really got the credit it truly deserved. Sadly, that coincided with the title reign of one of the promotion's most dominant and dangerous fighters, Demetrious Johnson.
The former bantamweight contender was part of the initial group of fighters to join the 125lb weight class and he hasn't looked back since. With a combined record of 13-1-1 at flyweight, Johnson has beaten everyone in the division worthy enough of a title shot, including current champion Henry Cejudo.
What made Mighty Mouse such an impressive fighter wasn't just his ability to beat up opponents, it was the fact that he was such an in-fight genius at all times. If Plan A wasn't working, he always had a Plan B or Plan C that was just as effective. His first fight against John Dodson, where he got smashed for two rounds before making the needed adjustments to decisively win the next three, shows the type of the grit he had.
However, when Johnson was at his best, he was landing creative strikes and finishing opponents in amazing ways. How could anyone forget his sensational suplex to armbar finish of Ray Borg? While he might not be fighting in the UFC anymore, Johnson's time as the flyweight great will be looked back on as an underrated time in the sport's history.
