10 Former MMA Stars Who Have Surprisingly Normal Jobs

2. Mark Kerr - Car Salesman

When Mark Kerr steamrolled through two successive one-night UFC tournaments, many observers believed they were seeing a new age of athletes in MMA, and they were right.

Unlike most early competitors who were constrained by being either solely skilful or strong, Kerr was a terrifying mix of the two, his NCAA Divison 1 wrestling background matched by his awesome power and athleticism.

Kerr continued his success after leaving the UFC and was one of the favourites to win the fabled PRIDE Openweight Grand Prix in 2000. However, the American would suffer a shock defeat to Kazuyuki Fujita and his career never really rebounded, winning just three of his next thirteen fights before retiring in 2009.

Kerr's struggles with performance-enhancing drugs, painkillers, and his volatile relationship with his girlfriend were chronicled in the 2003 classic, The Smashing Machine, with a movie adaption of the documentary starring The Rock having been announced last year.

Since retiring from fighting, Kerr has secured his real estate license, worked as a car salesman, and has also gotten sober.
