10 UFC Fighters Who Lost To Surprising Opponents

4. Sara D'Alelio Def. Amanda Nunes

Amanda "The Lioness" Nunes is, without question, the most dominant female fighter in the history of Mixed Martial Arts. Currently on a 12-fight winning streak and having not lost a fight in six years, Nunes has defeated basically everyone, from Ronda Rousey to Valentina Shevchenko and even Cris Cyborg.

But there was one woman she could not beat - Sara "The Monster" D'Alelio...wait, who?

While she never made it to the UFC, Sara D'Alelio did fight in Bellator, Pancrase, and (primarily) Invicta. But despite a mediocre 11-7 record, she does hold a key victory over one Amanda Nunes.

Yes, believe it or not, at Invicta FC 4: Esparza vs. Hyatt on January 5, 2013, D'Alelio defeated Nunes in a convincing Unanimous Decision. D'Alelio controlled each round with her grappling acumen, which Nunes appeared to have little to no answer for. To this day, it's still arguably the most lopsided defeat of Nunes' career, as she lost all three rounds on all three judges' scorecards.

After losing to D'Alelio, Nunes would move onto the UFC. After going 2-1 in her first 3 fights, Nunes would begin her aforementioned six-year-long streak of dominance, winning both the UFC Women's Bantamweight and Featherweight Championships in the process. There's basically no women's Featherweight division because of her. She's that. Damn. Good.

D'Alelio, however, would begin a 3-fight losing streak after this, going a total of 4-4 in the remaining 8 fights of her career. Lackluster ending record aside, she's one of only four women to ever beat Amanda Nunes, and no one can ever take that away from her.
