10 UFC Fights You Cannot Miss In August
5. Raphael Assuncao Vs. Cory Sandhagen - UFC 241
It's always fun to see older fighters take on up-and-comers. It gives fans a real sense of who's who in the division and where everyone should line up in the rankings. We've got a perfect example of this in the tasty bout between longtime top contender, Raphael Assuncao, and the very impressive Cory Sandhagen.
Assuncao has always been on the cusp of a title shot, but always seemed to lose his spot due to being defeated by a top contender. That's not to say that he's a bad fighter. In fact, he's a very, very good one. He's almost like the Michael Bisping of his division, beating everyone other than the top of the pile. His well-rounded skill-set, along with the fact that he's been fighting world class opponents for years puts him in good stead for this bout.
That being said, Sandhagen has looked absolutely sensational since he joined the UFC. The lanky bantamweight impressed a lot of fans with his win over John Lineker, despite it being a split division victory. His hands are extremely good, he knows how to use his height properly and he's got an underrated ground game. If he can defeat an opponent like Assuncao, he'll be right in the title shot mix.
