10 UFC Fights You Cannot Miss In August

4. Valentina Shevchenko Vs. Liz Carmouche - UFC On ESPN+ 14

After taking out Jessica Eye with a devastating head kick at UFC 238 in June, UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko will make her return to the Octagon against veteran fighter Liz Carmouche.

Although the 31-year-old champion made very short work of Eye, it's unlikely that things will be quite as easy against Carmouche. A dogged and determined grappler, Carmouche is as tough as they come and has a knack for getting opponents in uncomfortable positions. Her striking isn't the cleanest, but she uses it well to get inside and get a hold of her opponents.

Though these are all good qualities and would be enough to win against most flyweights, there are levels to this sport. Sadly for Carmouche, Shevchenko is, quite simply, a good few levels above her and everyone else in the division.

Not only is she a violent striker, as we saw against Eye, she's also wicked on the ground. If Carmouche is even able to take it to the mat, she'll have to worry about Shevchenko catching her in a submission during the scramble. All signs point to Shevchenko adding another victim to her already impressive highlight reel.
