5 Burning Question That Will Be Answered At UFC 235

1. Can An Event Headlined By Jon Jones Finally Sell Over 1,000,000 Pay-Per-Views?

Jon Jones has accomplished a lot over the course of his career. However, one thing he hasn't done is a headline a PPV with a buy-rate over 1,000,000.

That being said, he's still a major draw. The last two pay-per-views Jones headlined, against Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson, did around 860,000 and 700,000 buys respectively. To put those numbers in perspective, in 2017, UFC pay-per-views averaged roughly 330,000 buys.

Will UFC 235 be the event where Jones joins the ranks of Conor McGregor, Brock Lesnar, and Ronda Rousey as a headliner capable of selling 1,000,000 PPVs?

The answer is probably not.

As far as the main event, there's really no bad blood between Jones and Smith. In addition, many casual fans still don't know who Anthony Smith is and most experts don't think he has much of chance against Jones.

Furthermore, Tyron Woodley is defending his welterweight title in the co-main. While Woodley versus Usman is an intriguing matchup stylistically, the champ hasn't been a pay-per-view draw in the past —which is why he isn't headlining his own event.

On the plus side, there is a ton of hype surrounding Ben Askren's UFC debut and having a former PPV headliner in Cody Garbrandt on the card is a definite plus.

It will probably take a third fight with Cormier, paired with a solid co-main event, for Jones to surpass the 1,000,000 buy mark but UFC 235 should still do very well.
