5 UFC Fights In April That You Cannot Miss

2. Max Holloway Vs. Dustin Poirier - UFC 236

Interim title fights have become a bit of a gimmick over the last couple of years, with the UFC seemingly giving them out to anyone who main events a PPV and isn't already the champion.

The main event for UFC 236 is a perfect example of a great fight that doesn't need the interim title to make it important. The most appealing thing about this fight is that we're about to witness Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway, two of the sport's most dangerous and well-rounded fighters, do battle inside the Octagon.

Both men are in the prime of their careers, dishing out violence to anyone who is willing to compete against them. Poirier has cemented himself as a top 155lber by battering two former UFC champions in Eddie Alvarez and Anthony Pettis. He also stood toe-to-toe with arguably the most violent fighter at lightweight in Justin Gaethje and beat him at his own game.

Despite a unanimous decision loss to Conor McGregor back in 2013, Holloway has steadily risen to the top of the featherweight division, finishing 10 his last 13 fights with either a submission or knockout. With a resume that includes former 145lb king Jose Aldo, longtime contender Cub Swanson and submission specialist Brian Ortega, Holloway has proven himself to be a dominating force in his weight class.

Will he be able to continue his hot streak against someone as talented as Poirier though?
