UFC 240 Preview And Predictions

It hasn't been long since MMA fans got to watch UFC champions Jon Jones and Amanda Nunes successfully defend their titles at UFC 239. However, we're already right back into pay-per-view territory as UFC 241 is only a few days away.

UFC featherweight champion, Max Holloway, will hope to add to his list of 145lb victims when he takes on long time contender and former UFC lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar. Holloway looked absolutely outstanding in his last fight at featherweight, beating the brakes off Brian Ortega in a dominant performance.

However, he's got a serious challenge ahead of him in Edgar, who bounced back off a loss to Ortega with an impressive decision win over Cub Swanson. Can Holloway add another legend to his résumé or will Edgar once again show why he's the still one of the best in the sport?

There are plenty of other tasty match-ups scattered across the card, including the return of former UFC women's 145lb champion, Cris Cyborg, who takes on impressive prospect Felicia Spencer. Welterweight knockout artist, Geoff Neal, faces the heavy-handed Niko Price, and there's an extremely interesting bout between talented lightweights Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Arman Tsarukyan.

We've got some really interesting fights on the UFC 240 prelims to keep fans ticking until the blockbuster main event. The fact that Alexandre Pantoja and Deiveson Figueiredo are facing each other on the undercard is enough of a reason to tune in.

The two Brazilian flyweights are extremely exciting and really get after it when they're in the Octagon. Figueiredo is the more dangerous striker of the two, using his Muay Thai to bust up his opponents in really devastating fashion.

Pantoja is a far more accomplished grappler than his opponent, and if his past showings in the Octagon are anything to go by, he'll be looking to take Figueiredo's back as soon as possible. He's got fantastic finishing skills, so if Figueiredo isn't careful, he could be on the end of a nasty submission.

There's also a very good match-up between accomplished strikers Hakeem Dawodu and Yoshinori Horie. Both men have finishing ability - although Dawodu hasn't shown much of that since he joined the UFC - so expect a fight that remains mostly on the feet.

Last but not least, keep an eye on the women's flyweight fight between Alexis Davis and Viviane Araujo. Araujo is a well-rounded finishing machine, but she's still relatively young when it comes to her MMA career. Davis is a veteran who has fought a who's who of female talent. It'll be fun to see if this is a passing of the guard or if Davis will be able to use her experience against her younger opponent..
