UFC 244 Predictions

1. Nate Diaz Vs. Jorge Masvidal

The UFC have already had a stellar year in terms of captivating main events, but nothing compares to the excitement Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz have brought to UFC 244. Even without a real title on the line, this match-up has all the qualities needed for it to be something extremely special.

So let's look at what each fighter brings to the table and how their styles could combine. Striking wise, there shouldn't be much in terms of kicks thrown. It's highly likely that we'll see these two just trade hands and that's a thrilling prospect. History shows that Masvidal is definitely the more powerful boxer of the two. We've seen him viciously knockout the likes of Darren Till, Donald Cerrone and Jake Ellenberger in his last six fights alone. Plenty more have fallen victim to his finishing ability over the years.

While Masvidal has the advantage when it comes to power, the sheer amount of strikes Diaz is able to dish out during a fight is astronomical. He's made an entire career of repeatedly cracking opponents in the face and body, eventually breaking their will under his immense pressure.

With both of them possessing interesting striking styles, it feels like this fight could be decided on the ground. Masvidal is a solid grappler, with really good wrestling and underrated jiu-jitsu. However, Nate Diaz is at a different level compared to most welterweights when it comes to grappling.

Although it's going to be a tough fight for both men, Masvidal should continue his momentum and win a close decision victory.
