6. Miro & Kip Sabian Vs Orange Cassidy & Chuck Taylor

Christian Cage
AEW

Kudos to whomever came up with the idea to start this one hot.

An enraged Miro led a beatdown on Orange Cassidy and Chuck Taylor backstage before ordering somebody to play his music as he dragged the battered Taylor out to start the match. He probably should have ended it too - a moment of genuine heat was doused the longer the contest went on, despite Orange Cassidy's theoretically gutsy arrival halfway through.

There was yet more fuel to the eventual fire between Miro and Kip Sabian after Penelope Ford took a nasty spill and her husband went to her aid instead of keeping focussed on the match, but it didn't add so much texture that seven months of drab television were at long last justified.

In keeping with the form of this angle, what felt like something unpredictable was made normal and bland by the end. Miro's explosiveness was impressive, but that was the case long before he left WWE. This showed further commitment to him, but not in a way that magically made good on a stalled start.
