10 AEW Revolution 2021 Impulse Reactions

5. "Hangman" Adam Page Vs. "Big Money" Matt Hardy

Too ordinary.

That was the story of this good-not-great match between Hangman Page and Matt Hardy, fought against the backdrop of barely believable stakes for far too long in a spell where the show fell into a bit of a lull.

The kind of action you can imagine Page will one day politely put Hardy over for, this was functional to a fault on a pay-per-view. Dynamite fodder at best, the word was more basic than the expectations set elsewhere and did little for 'Hangman's status as a Champion elect until the final 10 seconds.

A really cute finish saw The Dark Order catch Page and position him perfectly for the match-winning Buckshot Lariat. And all after they'd neutralised the threat of Private Party. A post-match group hug was richly deserved, heavily implying that Page would eventually give into their affections. After this slightly tepid programme, it'd be a nice takeaway from an otherwise uneventful side mission on his road to redemption.
