10 Amazing Wrestling Feuds Overshadowed By ONE Moment
Those infamous promo moments, unfortunate injuries, and other moments that overshadowed great feuds.
There's something undeniably magical about watching a genuinely outstanding wrestling feud unfold.
But all of the exceptional storytelling, career-reviving work, and captivating promo exchanges in the world sadly still won't ever change the fact that each and every one of the following epic feuds are largely only remembered for one specific moment.
Thanks to instantly iconic spots during classic gimmick matches, unintentionally hilarious promo exchanges, or the long-awaited returns of newly hench babyfaces, much of the outstanding program that came before and/or after these particular occurrences is rarely recalled by the average wrestling lover.
Instead, they're too busy understandably laughing about that time an 'Animal' demanded to be given what they desired, constantly replaying a certain legendary pipebomb, or chuckling at a rather silly tattoo to care about the rest of the gritty, personal, and compelling feuds these memorable events popped up in.
And that's a damn shame, to be honest, because everyone from returning legends to undisputed GOATs produced some of their best-ever work in each and every one of the programs to come.
However, all it took was a sickening bump, ill-advised spot, or some real-life drama to completely overshadow the rest of a rather stellar war.
10. Edge's Comeback Feud With Old Rival Randy Is Overshadowed By One Ill-Advised Spot
After a thunderous Royal Rumble return - that still brings a tear to the eye today - 'The Rated "R" Superstar' was chucked straight into a rivalry with his one-time Rated RKO pal Randy Orton heading into WrestleMania 36.
It made all the sense in the world.
The two shared a ton of history together. 'The Viper' was one of the safest pairs of hands on the roster. And both men looked like they had a point to prove early on, with Orton horrifically targeting both Edge's neck and his missus as things got intense in next to no time.
Fans were genuinely champing at the bit to see the comeback king get his revenge on 'The Apex Predator' on 'The Grandest Stage'. But then the world shut down and the two opted to unleash a dull, never-ending walk-and-brawl inside of the Performance Center.
Making matters worse, that awful grudge match also contained a moment where Edge was choked out by a weight cable. The fact this particular spot showed up on WWE TV not long after Vice's Dark Side of the Ring series focused on the Chris Benoit tragedy, and how the wrestler ultimately took his own life with that same method, was a particularly bad look.
And that insensitive spot is unfortunately now one of the first things that springs to mind when thinking about a program that started out so promisingly.
