10 Amazing WWE World Title Wins (That Led To Lame Championship Runs)

8. Chris Jericho

After a blistering debut, Y2J’s WWE career stalled a little. As he recently confessed to Steve Austin, his booking made him feel he might have been better sticking with WCW, until he was finally thrust into the main event picture.

This culminated with his defeat of both The Rock and Stone Cold in a single night at Vengeance 2001 to become the first Undisputed Champion. That he did this through entirely heelish means was immaterial, even a boon - few heels are more fun and committed than Jericho at his best. He had arrived.

Unfortunately, all wasn’t as rosy as it appeared on the surface. Jericho entered into a programme with the white hot HHH, but was swiftly relegated to a supporting player in a family drama between The Game and wife Stephanie McMahon.

Jericho was an afterthought, as was their WrestleMania 18 match, which had to follow The Rock and Hulk Hogan’s battle of icons, and failed to do so. Plenty of greatness lay ahead of Jericho, but the booking did him absolutely no favours here.
