It is heartbreaking to look back on the hypothetical career that Monty Brown could have had with WWE, as very few wrestlers have ever possessed such a magnetic blend of skill and charisma.

After his American Football career ended due to an ankle injury, Brown chose to pursue a professional wrestling career. Two years after making his in-ring debut, he found himself working for TNA, and although it got off to a rocky start, he eventually became a prominent roster member.

When he joined WWE, it was part of the newly revived ECW. While the show paled compared to its previous incarnation, there was at least plenty of spotlight shone on the new stars thanks to the New Breed stable, which featured Marcus as a significant member. Seeing him go up against ECW legends like Balls Mahoney, Tommy Dreamer, RVD and coming out victorious showed how the company could see a potential star in the making.

Unfortunately, his departure from WWE was an incredibly sad tale, as he left the company after his sister tragically passed away. Brown then made the heroic decision to retire from the wrestling business to take care of her children. Although it's easy to look back and wish he'd reached his full potential, the decision to prioritise family over his career was undeniably admirable.
