A personal favourite, this - I loved the undercard team-up of Ryback and Curtis Axel. In the absence of anything concrete from creative, these two men who’d never succeeded on their own had been shoved together as fellow ‘Paul Heyman guys’. However, with no oversight micro-managing their every move, RybAxel managed to get away with murder.

Initially thuggish, bullying heels, the pair began to relax into the role of matey, competitive jocks, turning themselves babyface by default. Whether talking about how to beat the recently debuted Stardust, quarrelling and making up in the most bro way possible, or bickering about merchandise sales, their promos with Tom Phillips on the WWE App were strange and beautiful things to watch.

But all good things must come to an end: and after returning from hernia surgery, Ryback was back to singles competition, and Axel was… well, wherever Curtis Axel goes when he’s not on TV. Back in the box with the batteries out, I dunno.

They’d finally get to bring RybAxel a little closure with this golden moment between two friends a short time later.

It’s good to see a tag team break up amicably, without some forced, nonsensical heel turn. Here’s hoping that the pair of them get to team up again in New Japan or something when they’re inevitably released in the next few months.
