10 Best Ever Reactions To Losing A Wrestling Match
7. Bret Hart Goes Nuts On Everyone (Sycho Sid, Raw, March 17, 1997)
By 1997, the previously-straightforward character of Bret Hart was changing. The then-WWF had started to shift towards a new style of presentation, and everyone involved had to change with the times. This turned Hart into a more hardened, brash character than before, something which came to the fore in mid-March.
The week before WrestleMania 13, Hart faced Sycho Sid in a Steel Cage Match on Raw. Sid's WWF Heavyweight Title was on the line, with the stipulation being that Bret would defend against Steve Austin at 'Mania if he was victorious. He didn't, as Sid retained following interference from both Austin and The Undertaker.
In entirely logical fashion, Bret promptly blew a gasket live on air. Grabbing the microphone, he chewed out the WWF for what had happened. There was even some odd foreshadowing of what was to come with the 'Montreal Screwjob', as Bret confronted Vince McMahon, then better known as an announcer.
Swearing and calling for Austin to come out and face him, Bret came across as a total bad !*$%. This was completely at odds with the level-headed guy he had been presented as for years.
