10 Best Gimmicks In WWE Right Now

4. Aleister Black

Adam Cole might be NXT's biggest headline-grabber these days, but Aleister Black is the brand's real must-see competitor.

Many former independent wrestlers have their characters diluted to the point that they barely resemble their former selves upon signing with WWE (see: Itami, Hideo), but not Black. Transitioning to wrestling's biggest promotion has only enhanced the former Tommy End's gimmick, washing away some of his more ham-fisted Satanic allusions, and replacing them with the most effective aura of intimidation WWE have crafted in years.

Black's grey morality, disturbing sense of calm, and brooding demeanour have made him a favourite at Full Sail. His charisma and athleticism are off the charts, but it's his presence that impresses the most. Black leaps off the screen every time he appears, and feels like a genuine superstar in the making even in developmental, giving him all the tools required to become a transcendent talent.

Fans have been quick to throw the dreaded "next Undertaker" tag at Black, but the sad truth is that his is exactly the kind of gimmick that WWE tend to ruin on the main roster. Regardless, he's the most compelling thing on NXT at the moment.
