10 Best One-Liners From WWE SmackDown This Week (Aug 8)
9. "I Am A God"
As ever, Bray Wyatt was responsible for a number of nice
lines on SmackDown this week, including his assessment that “everything had
been taken from me again” in his defeat to Dolph Ziggler, and his resignation
at the fact that, as a result, it’s now “Bray Wyatt against the whole damn
world.”
But the most prophetic of all those lines was the bold claim that he is in fact a God, and that no matter hard his opponents may try, you can “never, ever kill a God.”
As effective as this line was, though, and as excellent as Bray is as portraying himself as a legitimate threat, I’m starting to feel—and not for the first time—that it’s getting harder and harder to take his words seriously when they aren’t being backed up in the ring.
We’ve certainly been in this position before, although after a post-WrestleMania lay-off a few months back, he seemed to regain some of his fear factor.
But having since twice failed to become number one contender, it looks like Wyatt could once again be back on the path to obscurity. I don’t want to write him off too soon, as it’s still very early days in the brand split. But as eloquent as these promos are, I can’t help but feel that they’re fast becoming rather empty threats.
