7. WrestleMania 24

Setting the precedent with current WrestleManias, Mania 24 is the first time the super show truly felt like a larger, week-long event.

Jerking the curtain were Finlay and John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield in a Belfast Brawl match which was hard hitting and didn’t overstay its welcome.

This was followed by the Money in the Bank match, which saw Shelton Benjamin steel the spot of the night accolade as he ran up a stacked ladder to the outside. Not only that, but this was the first time CM Punk was given a push on WWE programming as he won the briefcase and would go on to become World Heavyweight Champion months later.

Of course, this event is most remembered for the Ric Flair retirement match, and still evokes a lot of emotions from fans (especially those who didn’t watch Flair’s TNA/Impact run). Shawn Michaels was the ultimate final WWE opponent for the Nature Boy, and this match remains a crown in the career robe of Ric Flair.

Finally, in the main event, Edge almost became the man to end Undertaker’s streak as he pulled out all the stops in this underrated classic. Prior to this, Edge was seen as a lucky main venter, with many still not perceiving him in the role. However, deniers didn’t have a leg to stand on after witnessing this clinic.
