In 2004, WWE finally capitalised on its library and released a documentary using footage from the original ECW. ‘The Rise and Fall of ECW’ was an unexpected success, and so an intended one off reunion show for the Land of Extreme was scheduled.

Knowing now what WWECW would become, this makes this event even sweeter, as it was steered with Paul Heyman behind the wheel and seemingly left alone by McMahon and company.

Opening with the former Thrillseekers against each other, Lance Storm and Chris Jericho had a very good opening match. It even ended with the reunion of Lance Storm and Justin Credible, after the latter had smashed Jericho in the face with a singapore caine.

Also on the card, Mike Awesome defeated Masato Tanaka in a throwback to their feud which took place in ECW and FMW. This remains one of the finest big man matches ever produced by WWE.

The main event enraptured the spirit of the original ECW when it saw The Dudleys against Sandman and Tommy Dreamer This sloppy, hardcore bout ended with the entire ECW roster celebrating the former home of hardcore, and is remembered as one of the best PPVs of all time.
