The WrestleMania trilogy between Stone Cold and The Rock is one of the best overarching storylines in the history of wrestling's biggest annual event. The pair shared an electrifying chemistry, and benefitted from a relative lack of contact throughout their shared time of the roster. They clashed occasionally, of course, but (for two of the biggest stars in WWE history) were wisely kept apart for the majority of the time. John Cena and Randy Orton take note. Their first 'Mania bout was in 1999, and saw babyface Austin reclaim his WWF Championship from The Rock, the latter operating under the gimmick of Vince McMahon's corporate champion. Their last came four years later, after a period of unbelievable popularity for both men, and saw The Rock revert to his heelish ways on the verge of a real-life departure to Hollywood. He finally got his win over the Texas Rattlesnake in an enthralling (and highly emotional) encounter, one which would prove to be either man's last match as a regular roster member. Defining Moment: WrestleMania 17. The second of their three matches saw Rock and Austin square off as the two biggest names in contemporary wrestling. Initially a face vs face encounter, it became infamous as the site of Stone Cold's shocking heel turn and alignment with Vince McMahon - an incident credited with bringing the entire Attitude Era to an unthinkable close.
