Set to the aforementioned all-smiling neon of the New Generation, the No Holds Barred match between Diesel and Shawn Michaels brought darkness upon the bright white house set but remains a timeless triumph. The last clash between the best buds was to be an exorcise in cathartic violence between the pair.

'HBK' WrestleMania's victory over Bret Hart was clinical pro wrestling to an over-thought fault. The carefully crafted chaos and danger of his first pay-per-view title defence was a noble reminder that the new WWE Champion also just happened to be the best all-rounder in the world. Here, he literally fought to prove it.

The breathless and brilliantly cohesive brawl went up a gear when Diesel callously drove his former best friend through the commentary desk. Michaels finding himself covered in the debris and detritus from the wicked spot was epic in scale, whilst the use of Mad Dog Vachon's prosthetic foot for the finish was equally as wild in execution. There was unflinching and bold brutality to it all, all the way through to Michaels mocking Hulk Hogan down the lens with his poses as the show went off the air.
