7. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Kurt Angle (2001)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vm4fQ47bRo Although he's been in TNA longer than he was ever in WWE, Kurt Angle's WWE work often goes unnoticed and under appreciated by some fans. He had a nice run for himself in WWE. OK, that's a bit of an understatement: he a pretty great stint while with the company, winning every major singles title they had to offer at the time. He was one of the fastest rising stars in the business upon his debut in 1998, quickly capturing the European and Intercontinental Championships and later the WWF Championship. By 2001, he was one of the hottest babyfaces in the company feuding with one of the hottest heels in Stone Cold Steve Austin. The two engaged in some of the funniest comedy WWE had done in years following Stone Cold's heel turn in 2001, but they'd soon become bitter enemies once Austin joined The Alliance. This set the stage for their anticipated encounter at SummerSlam over the WWF Championship. Stone Cold may not have been wrestling the same kind of high quality matches on a regular basis by this point in his career, but he still managed to have an extremely exciting matchup with Angle. As soon as they locked up, Angle and Austin developed instant chemistry together. They'd have a very competitive contest that would see Austin get himself disqualified. Although Angle was deemed the victor, Austin retained the title. The Olympic gold medalist would defeat Austin for the gold one month later at Unforgiven, but the fluky finish to their clash at SummerSlam prevented it from ranking higher on the list.
