The best wrestler in WWE is a spirited debate always fun to have with fellow wrestling fans. Everyone's definition of what makes a specific Superstar the best is different, leading to a variety of answers ranging from former "indie darlings" to world renowned performers to creations of the WWE machine.

The first six months of 2016 have produced several outstanding performances from the Superstars of World Wrestling Entertainment as the company embarks on a New Era designed at implementing new stars and styles for fans to enjoy.

During that time, 10 of the supremely talented wrestlers that currently populate Vince McMahon's expansive roster have established themselves as the best of this half-year. This list will rank them in accordance to their in-ring contributions to the WWE product from January through June.

For the purposes of this countdown, they are main roster competitors regularly appearing on Raw and SmackDown. No Superstars from NXT were taken into account, nor was the work of any brand formerly of that brand that has been called up.

Which Superstar stood head and shoulders over the rest, establishing himself as the best of the crop? Who has the opportunity to supplant him by year's end? Which surprises or snubs will shock you?

10. The New Day

The New Day have dominated tag team wrestling in WWE for the last year and in the process, have developed a chemistry among themselves that all-but ensures a crowd-pleasing match.

Their work in 2016 against The Usos, The Club, The Vaudevillains and Enzo Amore and Big Cass has not only rejuvenated a tag team division in dire straits just a year ago, it has also brought a stability to that area of the roster. The trio is incredibly over with fans, their act one of the few that generates excitement in whichever arena they appear in.

The key to the trio's act is their consistency.

Whether they are working with former NXT stars like Amore and Cass or The Vaudevillains, or a faction of former world champions like The League of Nations, The New Day rarely has an "off" night. They are reliable as a team and can even be thrown into the singles mix when the time calls for it, as most recently witnessed by Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods' battles with AJ Styles.

Factor in Big E's extraordinary athleticism for a Superstar of his size, on display at Money in the Bank as he launched himself trough the ropes with a spear, and you have a motivated and determined trio whose best work is unfolding before our very eyes each and every week.

An recently introduced program with The Wyatt Family should ensure that they remain a fixture on this list come December.
