Daniel Bryan's meteoric rise to the upper echelon of WWE is the stuff that legends are made of. His road to the top was compared to some of the all-time greats in WWE, including Stone Cold Steve Austin. Indeed, Bryan's storyline with The Authority and his immense pop that grew louder each week, was very reminiscent of Austin in the Attitude Era. However, history will show that Bryan's downfall could ultimately become the bigger story of his young WWE career. The ironic part of that fall of course was that it had nothing to do with his struggle against Triple H's corporate reign of terror. In fact, that was a walk in the park compared to what Bryan endured later. Daniel's neck surgery in May sidelined him and he is still out. Right now, no one really knows when or even if he will be able to return to the fold in WWE. And while the blame for his injury cannot really be laid at the feet of any one Superstar, the fact is that it perhaps could have been prevented. It seems like an impossible notion, to assume that Bryan could have been stopped. After all, it was his frenzied routine in the ring that boosted his popularity and WWE just did what was expected of them; they struck while the iron was hot. However, if he had slowed down following WrestleMania 30 and perhaps have taken the time to get his second wind, then maybe he would not be on the shelf now. Of course, none of that is a certainty but that speculation has very likely already occurred in WWE.
