10 Big Talking Points From WWE Raw (Aug 29)
6. A Comfortable Lead
Once again, Sheamus and Cesaro would clash on Raw - this bout would mark the second in their best-of-seven encounter, with the promise that the winner of the series would get a "title opportunity" in the future.
Prior to the match, the two men cut promos. Cesaro's, which was conducted backstage, was actually quite good - he's been on a roll lately. Sheamus's, delivered in the ring prior to the bout, was less spectacular.
The bout was unsurprisingly solid, but the finish was particularly memorable. Both men fought to the outside, and when Cesaro charged Sheamus, the former WWE World Champion backdropped him into the ringpost. Cesaro took a nasty bump against it, and back in the ring, Sheamus locked in the cloverleaf for a quick submission.
That puts Sheamus up 2-0 in the series, which should make Cesaro's (presumable) comeback pretty exciting. Hopefully, WWE really makes this best-of-seven seem important, giving the ultimate winner a Universal Title shot on Pay-Per-View. It would be a smart way to push a new star and make what we watched feel consequential.
