10 Biggest Disappointments In WWE Elimination Chamber History
4. Intercontinental Title Match In 2015
Even worse than that Tag Team Championship match was the Intercontinental title fiasco from the same 2015 show.
It all fell apart fairly early on, when King Barrett inadvertently broke Mark Henry’s pod, forcing the big man to enter the match sooner than initially planned. This threw the rest of the script out the window, as no one really knew who to go after, where they should be or, in which order the entries and eliminations would now arrive. The resulting action yielded many an awkward stand-off, which isn’t really what you want to see from an Elimination Chamber match. Or any, for that matter.
Meanwhile, Sheamus had spent much of the match holed up inside his pod as the referees were having trouble opening up his door. Eventually, the Irishman revealed that he had in fact locked the door shut with his Celtic Cross pendant - but no one on commentary picked this up, to the point that JBL and Jerry Lawler made the whole thing feel like yet another botch.
While that first issue may have been beyond their control, the second one was just plain sloppy - and they both contributed to this Chamber match going down as one of the worst in history.
