As of the time of writing, Kane has appeared in 17 Royal Rumble matches, last entering in 2016. These appearances vary in quality. 2011’s outing was a far cry from one of the all-time greatest Royal Rumble performances, achieved by the star in 2001.

When Kane entered at #40, Michael Cole set up the situation as a flop by reminding everyone of ‘The Big Red Machine’s legendary aforementioned performance where he lasted over 53 minutes, eliminating 11 men, and was the “second-to-last man standing”. Kane as a final entrant is an exciting prospect on paper, it just didn’t deliver here.

Kane entered the ring with a brief flurry of dominance, throwing take-down strikes at his opponents, until Ezekiel Jackson picked a fight with him. After a scuffle, Jackson charged at Kane who ducked and pulled the top rope down, sending Jackson to the floor. A rather timid elimination at the hands of the monster. Kane then continued this uncharacteristic cowardice, targeting the smallest man in the match, Rey Mysterio. However, the smaller man prevailed, reversing a chokeslam into a hurricanrana, sending Kane over the top rope.
