10 Biggest Moments In The History Of WWE Backlash

1. Austin Returns (2000)

When thinking of iconic Backlash moments, there's only one top answer: Steve Austin's legendary return in 2000, interfering in the main event between Triple H and The Rock. The Texas Rattlesnake hadn't been seen in a ring since Survivor Series of the previous year, where he was infamously ran down by a mystery driver (actually Rikishi, carrying out the instructions of Triple H).

His return was an explosive one, marching to the ring with steel chair in hand, taking out the McMahons and their assorted stooges. That one-two hit on Patterson and Brisco is particularly sweet.

In many ways, this was the perfect Attitude Era main event - chaotic enough to be representative of the time, without going too overboard in the process. The Rock was finally able to regain the championship, healing a lot of the pain caused by the deflating WrestleMania 2000 main event, and the fans had their favourite back in the mix to boot.
