10 Current Superstars WWE Has No Idea What To Do With

1. The New Day

The New Day remain one of WWE’s most popular acts (and proven merch-shifters), but it was clear that their act was growing stale towards the end of their record-breaking Tag Team Title run. The trio’s promos all started merging into one, and their run became a joyless trudge towards breaking Demolition’s long-held record. Besting Ax & Smash was their only purpose, and they haven’t done a single thing of note since losing the belts to Sheamus and Cesaro.

They had a brief scuffle with Titus O’Neil, and Kingston defeated Bo Dallas on Raw this week. For now, it looks like The New Day are solely focused on wrestling wrestling the lowest of the low: a stark contrast to where they were a few months ago.

The New Day are never going to split as long as they keep selling t-shirts, so the tedium will definitely continue. A heel turn might work, but turning isn’t always the quick fix it’s made out to be, and The New Day were naturally turned face by the crowd the last time they played villains anyway.

Perhaps the trio just need a break. They have defeated anyone who’s anyone on Raw, and there’s little benefit to be had from them going around the block with Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows again, for example. Whatever the case, everything that The New Day do at the moment is done only to get them on television, not to further a storyline or develop their characters.
