10 Disturbing WWE Beatdowns That Are Hard To Watch

7. Acolytes Start A Shoot Match With Disrespectful Public Enemy

Everything about this match looked way too real. All of the hits seemed much harder (and less graceful) than we were used to seeing, even during the Attitude Era. And that's because there wasn't a damn thing fake about it. The legend behind this match is that Public Enemy, who'd just gotten to the WWE, were disrespecting the rest of the roster. On top of that, they reportedly told Bradshaw moments before this match began that they refused to do a key spot, which involved the Acolytes putting them through a table (that was kind of PE's thing in ECW and WCW, so it would have started a natural feud). According to JBL, when he passed this along to Ron Simmons, his response was, "if they don't want to go through the table then we'll take the table to them". And so began the sandbagging! Faarooq's stomps at the beginning of the match had a lot of obvious force behind them, and the way Johnny Grunge cowers from Bradshaw's relentless chair shots immediately lets everyone know that s**t just got real. Kevin Kelly's assessment of the situation really says it all: "I don't know if we'll ever see Public Enemy again. They're getting destroyed!". Meanwhile, Michael Hayes is the voice of everyone who's uncomfortable seeing two men nearly get murdered on live television, repeatedly saying how he's "having a hard time watching this" and giving a heartily sarcastic "thank you" when the official finally calls for the bell after two straight minutes of glorified, one-sided bar fighting. And how often had you seen Bradshaw deliver a high kick to someone's head prior to this match? Because he did it three times in this outing, and each one looked like it was given with a healthy "f--k you" at the end of it. Just brutal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFLuGQrC48M
