9. Asuka

In Japan, Asuka had earned herself a reputation as one of the best female wrestlers on the planet, heck, as one of the best wrestlers on the planet full stop.

She arrived with a lot of fanfare in NXT and embarked on an incredible run that saw her defeat anyone that crossed her path. In fact, Asuka's undefeated streak was still intact when she was called up to the main roster. She relinquished her NXT Women's Championship and was expected to be a force to be reckoned with in WWE.

Despite a series of underwhelming feuds, Asuka still remained undefeated and looked set for a huge push after winning the 2018 Royal Rumble and setting her sights on Charlotte Flair's SmackDown Women's Championship.

After losing clean and shaking hands with Flair after their WrestleMania match, Asuka's reputation took a significant hit. She was no longer the terrifying badass wrestler the fans had grown to love.

Asuka has had fleeting moments on the main roster, but never a sustained run at the top of the women's division. She is currently performing as one half of the Kabuki Warriors alongside Kairi Sane, who herself could easily have made this list.
