10 DUMB WWE Face Turns (We Didn't Want To Admit Were GENIUS!)

7. Nia Jax (2018)

It's a shame this didn't last longer, it really is.

WWE ruined their own idea by quickly turning Nia Jax heel again with no proper explanation, but her brief babyface run vs. Alexa Bliss in 2018 was memorable. Casting Nia as an inspiring, body-proud character was positive, progressive and marked a change in how WWE presented women. The company carried the torch for anyone getting bullied for the way they look.

It was a simple story that's been told millions of times in TV and film, but the physical payoff at WrestleMania 34 was a thumping example of feel good fare. Nia turned the tide on Bliss, halted her bullying ways in their tracks, and won the Raw Women's Title before reminding everyone post-match that they should believe in themselves too.

Nothing about the way Jax was produced on TV before the feud suggested this had a prayer. She was a bullying heel herself, but deserves applause for slotting into the role of a well-meaning baby with aplomb. Again, it's a pity WWE shunted Nia back over to the heel side post-'Mania.
