When Mysterio stood tall with his other surviving teammates, it was both an affirmation of his superstar status, and an unexpected footnote in his career.

On the one hand, Mysterio became the ninth man in event history to survive three or more elimination matches. The list that Rey joined includes Randy Savage, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Randy Orton, Big Show, and Jeff Hardy.

Contra to that, the match also marked Mysterio's last pay-per-view victory with WWE. Though he still had more than two years left with the company, Mysterio would only wrestle on six more pay-per-views, due to the increased frequency of his injuries. Among those events were two Royal Rumbles, and the first Andre the Giant battle royal at WrestleMania XXX.
