10 Fascinating WWE WrestleMania 32 Facts
4. The Women's Title Match Was The First Women's Match In Mania History To Go Longer Than 10 Minutes
When the Divas Revolution was announced in July 2015, fans were ecstatic to see Sasha Banks, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch ascend to the main roster. The early days of the 'Revolution' were a mixed bag, with forced trios taking part in mostly filler matches. By WrestleMania, the potential for the ramped-up Women's division became evident when Charlotte, Lynch, and Banks were put together in a three-way match for the Women's, not Divas, Championship.
At 16 minutes and three seconds, the women's triple threat is by far the longest women's match in WrestleMania history. If you don't count mixed tag team matches, the previous record for longest WrestleMania match exclusively featuring women came ten years earlier, when Mickie James defeated Trish Stratus in a match that ran 8:48. The women's triple threat nearly doubled the prior record.
As a footnote, if you count pre-show matches, then the first women's match to break ten minutes came earlier in WrestleMania 32, when the ten-diva tag lasted 11 minutes and 25 seconds. That's some serious commitment to the Revolution, no?
