10 Gimmicks WWE Desperately Need To Change In 2016

6. Damien Sandow

Like Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow has proven himself capable of getting over with a variety of different gimmicks whether he's playing a heel or babyface. He is naturally funny, whether decrying the intelligence of a live audience as 'The Intellectual Saviour of the Masses', or garnering immense sympathy as the mistreated sidekick of The Miz. Bizarrely, since turning on Miz in the WrestleMania 31 pre-show battle royal (and garnering a huge babyface pop in the process), Sandow has largely been a non-entity on WWE programming. Much of the blame can be laid at the feet of Hulk Hogan, whose racist tirade put paid to Curtis Axel's 'AxelMania' gimmick - and Sandow's accompanying 'Macho Mandow' persona in the process. Sandow doesn't need a new gimmick in 2016, he simply needs a gimmick - any gimmick! On the recent live tour of the UK, Damien made appearances in a comedic babyface tag team alongside the similarly underused Fandango, but didn't appear to have any distinct personality of his own anymore, merely copying Fandango's dance moves and generally playing to the crowd. Even without a gimmick, however, Sandow still demonstrated his ability to get a reaction from a crowd. WWE should really consider bringing him back to TV, whether as a babyface or heel, and letting his infectious enthusiasm shine through once more.
