10 Great WWE Matches That Didn't Have A Finish
1. John Cena vs Neville - Raw 12/05/2015
When John Cena finally hangs up the day-glo armbands, there’ll be bigger career moments to remember than his US Championship invitational, but seldom was he better in the ring. Cena used his midcard position to elevate a swathe of new stars including Sami Zayn, Cesaro, and Kevin Owens.
One of his best matches of the period, though, was against Geordie high flyer and former NXT Champion Neville, who can stand as one of WWE’s biggest missed opportunities to date. As Cena opens the door to any challenger, the be-caped Neville storms down the ramp and proceeds to deliver a star-making turn for the ages.
Much credit must go to Cena for the spotlight he shines on his young opponent. Neville kicks out of an AA and runs through most of his jaw dropping aerial offence, with Cena on the ropes for large chunks of the match. As is often the case, a faster, smaller opponent leads to a better John Cena, and he steps his game up to match with Neville’s flashy brilliance.
Ultimately it’s down to Rusev, in the midst of a Cena feud, to interrupt the match and deprive us of a decisive ending. A clean finish is all we’re missing to have a bona fide classic, but what we got was pretty brilliant.
