It was somewhat ironic that Jinsei Shinzaki coated his entire body with shakyo prior to each and every match, given his name, 'Hakushi', literally translates as 'blank paper'.

The word actually has a spiritual meaning, referring to a state of consciousness in Zen Buddhism achieved directly before enlightenment. Hakushi can be attained through a process of zazen, which more or less just involves sitting perfectly still, and not, as in Shinzaki's case, booting people in the face.

Incidentally, 'Shinja' - the name of Hakushi's manager - means 'devotee'.
