Often in wrestling, you hear about wrestlers who "left in all in the ring" or who "gave their blood, sweat and tears" to the business. When it comes to Mick Foley, those two statements turn from figurative to literal. Not only did he actually give his blood, his sweat and his tears to pro wrestling, he did leave it all in the ring.. an ear, some teeth, flesh, brain cells, and so forth. As Cactus Jack, Mick had put his body on the line so often, and mostly did so in matches that weren't exactly main event battles. He went above and beyond what was needed of him, even though it never led to anything beyond a single Tag Team Title reign in his time there. Years later, after Foley had become a much bigger star post-WCW (quite the theme there), WCW would anger him and his entire family by taking a completely unnecessary jab at him during an episode of Nitro, smack dab in the middle of the Monday Night War. Everyone knows the story by now... Raw was taped that week, while Nitro was live, so Eric Bischoff had Tony Schiavone reveal Raw's results live on Nitro, and then take a shot at Foley, who won the WWF Title during that episode. The plan backfired on WCW, as their decision caused people to flip over to Raw and watch Foley, as Mankind, win his first WWF Title. On top of that, it really upset Foley, who simply felt it was cruel and not needed. Taking shots at the WWF, as a whole, was one thing, but to go out to such a personal level and try to tear down everything he had spent years attempting to build? You can't blame Foley for being so upset, especially when his kids began to question him and ask why WCW would do such a thing.
