10 Modern Wrestlers And Their Old School Equivalents
9. FTR & The Minnesota Wrecking Crew
FTR (formerly The Revival) are perhaps the most old school modern wrestlers in this day and age. The entire gimmick of Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood is founded in traditional tag team wrestling, and they even have some physical ties to their old school counterparts thanks to their manager, Tully Blanchard. This team genuinely capture the spirit and vibes of an old school team, and that is the Minnesota Wrecking Crew.
The Minnesota Wrecking Crew were a tag team established by Gene and Lars Anderson. They were famed for their skilful tag team wrestling and toughness, which helped them become significant players in the territories. As the years went by, this tag team would move through three separate stages, involving different members, all under the Anderson ring name. After Gene and Lars, the pairing was Gene and Ole Anderson and following that the crew became Ole and Arn Anderson.
Both FTR and the Minnesota Wrecking Crew brought a tonne of credibility to tag team wrestling, and are easily comparable thanks to their similar no-nonsense in-ring styles, similar stocky looks and dedication to keeping traditional wrestling values alive.
