10 Modern Wrestlers And Their Old School Equivalents
8. Bobby Roode & Triple H
It might be unfair to call Triple H an old school wrestler and Roode a modern one, especially seeing as the pair are only separated by a seven year age gap. However, Bobby Roode truly feels like a current star thanks to his rise to stardom being later in his life, and Triple H is a bona fide superstar of a previous generation.
When Roode joined NXT, there were jokes galore about the striking resemblance that he shared with Triple H. This has carried through their careers, as both were famous for their long flowing hair, which eventually became shaved down. There is a shocking amount of similarity between them physically, but that's not all that links the two.
They both have a very similar wrestling style, even sharing a spinebuster as signature moves of theirs. They operate inside the squared circle with excellent storytelling and a slow, methodical approach that make them feel utterly dangerous if a little dull to watch at times.
Even Roode's glorious persona feels reminiscent of the early Hunter Hearst Helmsley years of Triple H as the Connecticut Blueblood, thanks to his heelish arrogance and a tendency to take short cuts.
One sure thing is that Roode has not spent his career being booked in the same way as Triple H.
