10 Most Bizarre Short-Term Returns In WWE History
7. British Bulldog Wins The Hardcore Championship
Davey Boy Smith sadly passed away in 2002, leaving a legacy of fond memories in the Golden Era and New Generation periods of WWE history. He also made a surprising, less-documented comeback in the Attitude Era, and found success after he'd long been written off.
Bulldog returned in 1999, ditching his trademark Union Jack tights for street clothes to fit in with the company's grittier direction. He enjoyed a brief feud with The Rock over the WWF Championship, but didn't stick around at the top of the card for long.
Just as Smith's time in the business seemed to be winding down, he cropped up again in 2000, defeating Crash Holly at the the Insurrextion pay-per-view in London. The match only lasted three or four minutes, but Bulldog was able to capture the Hardcore Championship in the process.
