10 Most Frustrating Decisions WWE Have Made This Year (So Far)
1. Turn Cena Heel ---> ??? ---> Profit!
To screw up one heel turn may be regarded as a misfortune. To screw up two looks like carelessness.
Yes, the sole positive of John Cena's heel turn is that it takes some of the heat off WWE's inability to capitalize on New Day's descent into the dark side. Which is a bit like breaking your nose to distract from the pain of a twisted ankle, but such is the state of WWE booking these days - a relentless series of self-inflicted injuries.
The longer John Cena's heel run has lasted, the more evident it's become that there was no plan beyond the initial turn. The Rock, the man who convinced John to turn in the first place, has been inexplicably absent since (and no, his excuse of not wanting to upstage John and Cody doesn't wash - if that were true, he shouldn't have been part of the storyline in the first place). Cena's heel promos have been woefully inconsistent, and his ability to work matches as a heel is questionable at best.
It's telling that the only positives to come from Cena's work the past few months are when he's teased turning back to the light side. WWE may have a happy ending in mind for the Cena saga, but it's going to have to be one hell of a conclusion to justify the months wasted on a heel turn that the fans didn't want and the people involved couldn't execute.
