10 Most Insane Things WWE Has Done In The Empty Arena Era

7. Dexter Lumis' Push

Dexter Lumis is something else entirely. NXT's biggest problem as of late has just been introducing new characters with no build up, rhyme or reason before shoving them into major angles where they don't belong. Lumis is the quintessential example of this, with his few bewildering appearances on NXT squashing talent like Jake Atlas got him transitioned into a feud with the Undisputed Era with no cohesive narrative implemented.

His entire gimmick is slithering around with a creepy moustache, scaring his opponents in cargo jeans before doing an inexplicable flip of some sort? With all the talent on the roster, it's astonishing that Lumis got to run interference in the Backlot Brawl, before winning decisively over Roderick Strong at The Great American Bash. The former Samuel Shaw is genuinely bewildering and one of the worst wrestlers that the company has to offer, he can't do anything right and his mega push doesn't make any sense.

The entire Lumis experiment reached its apex recently when he managed to win a triple threat with Finn Balor and Timothy Thatcher, by making the submission specialist Thatcher pass out for the first time in NXT with a staggeringly bad choke? It seems unlikely that Lumis' current character would have ever made it to his position on the card without the empty arena, it is still so confusing that he's doing more than KUSHIDA.
