10 Most Insane Things WWE Has Done In The Empty Arena Era

8. One Final Beat's Ending

This one just hurts. The Ciampa/Gargano feud definitely went for too long but deserved a proper final chapter, to give an ending to a rivalry that defined three years of NXT, that created the brand's best babyface since Sami Zayn and Bayley, and they botched it with crazy creative choices. Turning Gargano heel was already a bad sign, considering that his tweener run was insufferable in late 2018, and the feud didn't need explicit babyface/heel allegiances at this point anymore.

Their cinematic match went on for nearly an hour, with shockingly awful lighting and camerawork throughout, and never really reached the peak of their previous contests. They gave their bodies to it, but it felt unnatural, and the shoddy presentation limited the match's effectiveness.

That could have been forgiven if it wasn't for the insane decision to end the feud with Candice LeRae turning heel and kicking both men in the balls, Gargano revealing that he was wearing a cup, and then winning the match.

The biggest feud in NXT history ending like that was disrespectful, and both men's utterly failed booking in the months since makes it even more tragic. Both of them and all the fans who had invested years of their time and energy into this story deserved more from a payoff than a cheap swerve, and you have to believe that without empty arena, they'd have never gone with such a dismal ending.
