Ah, Dwayne Gill. The longtime enhancement talent, generously compated to "Iron" Mike Sharpe or Barry Horrowitz, was granted a shot at the WWE Championship at the 1998 Survivor Series.

Another of the "Ah really? This guy?" reveals in WWE history, a mystery entrant was promised for the 1998 Deadly Game tournament for the WWF Championship that turned out to be Dwayne Gill.

What made matters even worse was the long, grandiose build-up that Mr. McMahon gave the perennial jobber prior to announcing his name.

Again, the wrestling industry was on fire at this point and speculation ran wild as to who the mystery opponent would be. Would it be a WCW defect? A former WWE superstar making his long-awaited return? Furthermore, fans wondered if the mystery entrant was someone that had a legitimate shot at claiming the vacant WWF title.

Obviously, Gill was not a threat to win the tournament and the disappointment in the arena grew with Mr. McMahon's announcement but also when the hyped-up surprise was eliminated in a matter of seconds.

Gill would go on to portray the comedy character Gillberg, an on-the-nose parody of WCW's top superstar Goldberg, but his initial return to WWE was met with very poor reviews.
