9. Ronda Rousey

In the post-Jim Johnston era of WWE themes, few tunes really stand out. Drums and earnest guitars are in, variety and humour are out. With that in mind, Ronda Rousey’s use of Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” stands out all the more, as it sounds so unlike anything else in the company’s song book.

Kudos to the accounts department for securing the rights to the actual song and not a soundalike, as it couldn’t be more suited for Rousey. In her early face run, especially, it summed her up to a tee: happy to be here, but ready to cause some trouble.

As soon as the riff kicks in, the fans are on their feet - it was the most exciting moment of this year’s (admittedly quite bad) Royal Rumble by far. Rousey’s aura is such that she doesn’t need to do much else to excite the WWE universe - she swans, swaggers, or stomps her way to the ring, depending on her mood, and the crowd basks in her legitimacy and superstar status.
